Some rules
Figure which entry, then
- direct: turn in the holding direction to the outbound
- parallel: turn counter the holding direction to the outbound
- teardrop: turn to a heading 30 degrees short of the outbound, i.e. without crossing the outbound.
Fly the outbound leg, then
- direct & teardrop: turn in the holding direction to intercept the inbound leg
- parallel: turn counter the holding direction to intercept the inbound leg (or, if appropriate and possible, to the holding fix)
With a choice of entries and the wind no factor, first choice is teardrop, second direct and third parallel. The idea is to get established on the inbound leg as soon as practicable.
