GPS and VOR are different!
? VOR CDI deviation is angular – 10º for full-scale deflection.
? GPS CDI deviation is linear – 5nm enroute, 1nm terminal, 0.3nm approach, off-course for full-scale deflection.
Sensitivity ramps up automatically during approaches.
enroute -> terminal 30 nm miles out. (armed)
terminal -> approach 2nm from the FAF. (active)
The changing sensitivity can be easily mis-interpreted during course intercepts. Avoid getting vectored closer than 2nm to the FAF!
